Universal Basic Income is going to happen. Sooner or later. The real question is whether it'll be truly universal and without strings or whether it's weaponized by authority into a control mechanism. If the latter is what happens, we can kiss democracy goodbye. Forever.
Democrat Blue or Republican Red? Both were appropriated post-FDR by rival factions of corporate and lineage big capital, to ringfence key voter demographics. The false dichotomy is designed to divide and rule the American people, so entrenched power can exploit the many and reward the few without regulation or restriction. What about the ideal 'anyone can become President'? Do we need to Make America - Americans - Great Again?
Time and time again the rump of voters choose the fantasy over the fact. People in their millions go for the snake oil (if it's delivered with the right dewy-eyed appeal) and reject the poor prosaic plain-speaker with the long record of real public service. I don't get it!
Big capital 'survival of the fittest' mentality weeds out the exceptional upwardly mobile from the proletariat and what better demonstration of this cynical Darwinian principle than millions of freeborn turkeys voting for Christmas. Who's to say it isn't "right" for a country if that's the outcome? Brexit's EXIT DAY will mark the final scene of this Act in the Dramatis Britannia one way or another. Parliamentary majority will define what comes after. It won't be pretty if the wrecking ball is given unregulated, unlimited power to swing.
On 12th December 2019 the United Kingdom goes to the polls in the most divisive, fucked up election in living memory. Whether the voters know it or not, the stakes are enormous. Similarly high stakes play out in the United States in November 2020. Will the UK (and the USA, in 2020) have woken up to the existential threats to their long-term future or has big capital already conditioned the people of these great nations into turkeys voting for Christmas?
